Every Victorian CPV — rideshare, taxi or WAV — must pass an inspection every 12 months, and a licensed Victorian vehicle tester is the accepted route. We are one: $330 flat, booked to a time, done in about an hour, with any repairs quoted in writing before they happen.
The rule, straight from the regulator
Safe Transport Victoria requires every commercial passenger vehicle to be inspected every 12 months. For booked-only services the annual inspection may be completed by a licensed Victorian vehicle tester; for unbooked services (taxis, wheelchair-accessible vehicles) a Roadworthy Certificate from a Licensed Vehicle Tester is required — completed after cameras and fare equipment are fitted. One honest boundary: we are a Licensed Vehicle Tester whose certificate is accepted under the scheme — we are not the scheme’s appointed inspection provider, and we don’t claim to be. What we are is local, bookable this week, and answerable to you.
Built for cars that can’t afford downtime
A rideshare car off the road is income off the table. So: book online to a fixed time, early drop-off means most inspections and small repairs finish the same morning, the report and any quote arrive in writing, and nothing is repaired until you say yes. If repairs run longer, ask about a loan car when you book — allocated first-in when one’s free.
Hybrid rideshare cars: read this before 1 September 2026
From 1 September 2026, Victoria requires the tester inspecting any electric or hybrid vehicle — that includes the Camry, RAV4 and Prius hybrids doing most of Melbourne’s rideshare work — to hold the new EV testing category. The pool of workshops that can lawfully do it shrinks sharply, and our accreditation doesn’t currently cover that category either, so we can’t inspect a hybrid or EV CPV just yet. Petrol and diesel CPV inspections are unaffected and continue here at $330 flat.

For unbooked services (taxis and wheelchair-accessible vehicles) Safe Transport Victoria requires a Roadworthy Certificate from a licensed Victorian vehicle tester. For booked-only services (rideshare) the annual inspection may be done by a Licensed Vehicle Tester or by the scheme’s appointed provider. Either way, as an LVT our inspection is the accepted pathway — $330 flat.
For unbooked services, yes — Safe Transport Victoria requires the RWC to be completed after the cameras, fare devices and terminals are installed, so the inspection covers the car as it will actually work. Tell us when you book and we schedule accordingly.
About an hour on the hoist, booked to a time rather than a queue. Early drop and you’re usually earning again by mid-morning; a loan car may be available if repairs are needed, when one’s free.
You get the written list of exactly what failed and a fixed written quote to fix it. Repairs are approved by you before they happen, and the recheck completes the certificate.
