Break down near home? Your car comes straight to us — any hour
Most roadside memberships tow your car to a workshop that is closed, leave it there, and tow it a second time when the workshop opens. Break down on a Friday night and that is your weekend gone. A StarTech towing membership does one thing instead: your car comes into our yard, at whatever hour it happens, and it is looked at within one business day. Three membership levels, launching soon.

Where your tow goes
Every membership tow comes to StarTech Prestige, 8B Universal Way, Cranbourne West. That is the point of it — your car goes straight to the workshop that will diagnose and fix it, not to a holding yard overnight. If you want the freedom to be towed to any workshop you choose, this membership is not the right product for you. A general roadside membership suits that better, and there is nothing stopping you holding both.
If we cannot take your car
Sometimes we cannot. The yard is full, we are closed and cannot accept a drop that night, or it is a vehicle we do not service. We will tell you before the truck is dispatched, and you choose: we tow it to another licensed workshop you nominate within the same 50 km at no extra cost to you, and the callout is used; or you keep the callout and we help you arrange a tow at our normal published price. We will never take payment for a tow we cannot complete, and we will never dispatch a truck without telling you where the car is going.
Twenty kilometres included, fifty kilometres reached
Every membership includes the first 20 km, and reaches 50 km at $4 per kilometre — both measured from our workshop, not from wherever you have broken down, so the distance never changes depending on which way you were driving. Between 20 and 50 km that per-kilometre charge applies, and we tell you the exact total before the truck moves. Most of our members live inside 20 km and never pay a cent extra. That 50 km reaches Cranbourne, Cranbourne North, Cranbourne East, Clyde, Clyde North, Botanic Ridge, Junction Village, Devon Meadows, Lynbrook, Lyndhurst, Hampton Park, Narre Warren, Narre Warren South, Berwick, Beaconsfield, Officer, Pakenham, Carrum Downs, Skye, Langwarrin, Frankston, Seaford, Dandenong, Keysborough, Noble Park, Endeavour Hills, Doveton and Hallam. We do not tow beyond 80 km.
What is not included
Accident towing following a collision is a separately regulated service in Victoria and is arranged through your insurer or the police, not through this membership. Specialist recovery — bogged, off-road, underground or multi-storey car parks — is quoted case by case. Unregistered vehicles, motorcycles and motorhomes are not included, and neither is a vehicle that cannot be loaded because there is no key or the wheels will not turn.

That is the reason this membership exists. Most roadside products tow your car to a workshop that is shut, leave it there, and tow it again when the workshop opens — so a Friday-night breakdown means a weekend without a car. Your car comes into our yard instead, and it is on the hoist first thing.
No, and it is not a replacement for one. Roadside assistance covers flat batteries, lost keys, running out of fuel and breakdowns anywhere in the state. This is towing to us, close to home, followed by the repair. Plenty of members will keep both — the roadside club for the highway, this for the breakdowns that happen near home.
