PrestigeOS · Workshop inspection software

The inspection software built on a real workshop floor.

PrestigeOS is digital vehicle inspection, quoting and customer reporting software, built from inside StarTech Prestige, an RACV Accredited Auto Care Centre.

RACV does not endorse PrestigeOS.

The Problem

Stop losing legitimate work because inspection findings were missed, forgotten or never explained properly.

Work gets lost in the gap between the bay and the front counter. A tech spots a leak on the hoist, mentions it on the way past, and by the time the customer is at the desk it has turned into “there was something with the coolant”. The car goes home. The fault does not.

PrestigeOS closes that gap by changing the mechanism, not by promising a number. Every technician works the same checklist. Nothing found goes unrecorded. The customer sees the photo and decides.

That is the whole idea. Findings are captured where they are found, with the evidence attached, and they travel to the customer in words the customer can read. What happens next is the customer’s call — but now it is a decision made on evidence instead of a conversation nobody wrote down.

How It Works

See how one inspection works

Stylised walkthrough — a diagram of the workflow, not a screenshot of the app.

  1. Step 1 of 7 · In the bay

The mechanic picks how the job gets worked

Guided Inspection for the full checklist, Notes for a quick job, or Diagnostics Only when the car is in for a fault. Whichever mode is chosen, every technician on the floor is working the same structure.

Job 4821 · choose inspection type

    • Guided Inspection selected
    • Notes available
    • Diagnostics Only available
  2. Step 2 of 7 · In the bay

Record the fault, attach the evidence

The finding is written where it is found. Photos come straight off the phone camera or out of the album, and they sit beside the finding they belong to — not in a folder somebody has to match up later.

    Finding · front brakes

    • Front pads measured 2mm
    • Photos attached 3 added
    • Source camera + album
    • Note typed by tech
  3. Step 3 of 7 · Bay to office

It saves and reaches the office immediately

The inspection submits the moment the mechanic is finished. There is no AI running on the mechanic’s phone, so nothing sits there processing while a car waits on the hoist and a customer waits at the counter.

    Submit

    • Inspection saved done
    • Sent to office immediate
    • AI on this device none
    • Delay before submission none
  4. Step 4 of 7 · Office

The office runs the AI, not the bay

From the backend, a staff member turns the mechanic’s shorthand into wording a customer can actually read. Findings, measurements and photos stay grouped exactly as they were recorded on the floor.

    Backend · draft wording

    • Where the AI runs office backend
    • Tech notes rewritten plainly
    • Findings, measurements, photos stay grouped
    • Human review required
  5. Step 5 of 7 · Front counter

Edit once, in the One-Pass Quote Editor

Reception opens the finding, adjusts the wording and the pricing in one place, and moves on. There is no second quote builder to re-enter the same job into and nothing to keep in sync by hand.

    One-Pass Quote Editor

    • Finding edited once
    • Duplicate quote builders none
    • Re-entry none
    • Wording and price same screen
  6. Step 6 of 7 · To the customer

The customer gets a report they can read

A professional photo-based vehicle health report: findings numbered against a vehicle diagram so the owner can see where on the car each one is, and downloadable as a PDF or printed at the counter.

    Vehicle health report

    • Findings numbered on diagram 1–5
    • Photo evidence per finding attached
    • Download PDF
    • Counter copy print
  7. Step 7 of 7 · The decision

The customer decides what gets approved

They go through the report item by item and approve what they want done. It is their call, and the record of what they approved and what they declined stays on the job.

    Customer approval

    • Approved items customer’s choice
    • Declined items recorded
    • Who decides the customer
    • Record of the decision kept on job
Three Workflows

One job, three people, one record

The mechanic’s phone

Guided inspection, notes or diagnostics-only mode. Multi-photo capture from the camera or the album. Autosave as the job goes, with recovery if the connection drops. Runs on Samsung and iPhone, in Chrome and Safari.

The office

AI drafting runs from the backend only, and a person reviews every draft before it goes anywhere. The One-Pass Quote Editor keeps the finding and its price on one screen. Sold amounts and mechanic performance are tracked against the work.

The customer

A photo-based vehicle health report with findings numbered against a vehicle diagram, available as a PDF download or printed at the counter. They approve item by item, and the decision is recorded.

A Worked Example

A worked example — how a $300 service becomes a $2,000 approved job

The job, itemised

  • Booked service$300
  • Front brake pads at 2mmMeasured · photographed
  • Both front tyres down to the wear barsPhotographed
  • Coolant leak at the radiator seamPressure-tested · photographed
  • Rear shock leakingPhotographed
  • Battery failing a load testTested
  • Findings subtotal$1,700
  • Customer-approved total$2,000Only after customer authorisation. Every one of the five findings above went to the customer with its photo and its measurement, and the customer approved them.

What this example does and does not say

  • This example is illustrative. It shows the shape of a job, not a typical result.
  • Results vary between vehicles and workshops. A different car, a different customer and a different week give a different number.
  • Repairs must be genuinely required. A finding belongs in a report because the vehicle has it, not because it is on a list.
  • The customer controls what is approved. They can approve all of it, some of it, or none of it.
  • PrestigeOS helps reveal and document work that was already there. It does not create work.

FAQ

Questions workshop owners ask

Is there a free trial?

Yes — Starter includes a 14-day free trial. Growth and Pro are billed monthly.

Do the plans differ in features?

No. Every plan is the whole product. The only difference is AI generation volume — 500 a month on Starter, 1,500 on Growth, 4,000 on Pro.

Does the AI write the customer’s report on its own?

No. The AI produces a draft only. Qualified staff verify everything before it reaches a customer, and the draft is built from what the technician actually recorded.

Where does the AI run?

Only in the office backend, never on the mechanic’s phone. That is deliberate: it means AI processing can never sit between a finished inspection and the office receiving it.

What phones does it work on?

Samsung and iPhone, in Chrome and Safari, with full desktop workflows for the office. Unlimited staff profiles are included, so every technician gets their own login.

What happens when the connection drops mid-inspection?

Work autosaves as the inspection goes, and the app recovers the in-progress inspection when the connection returns. The technician picks up where they stopped instead of starting again.

Can I cancel?

Yes. Plans are monthly, and you manage or cancel your own subscription through the customer billing portal.

Who is behind PrestigeOS?

It was built inside a working workshop in Cranbourne West, Victoria, for that workshop’s own bays — then offered to other Australian workshops once it had earned its place on the floor.
