A tired hybrid battery rarely fails all at once — usually it’s one or two weak cells or modules dragging the pack down. That’s why we don’t jump straight to “replace the whole battery”:
- Hybrid battery health check — diagnostic scan of the pack, module voltages, cooling system and charging behaviour, with a plain-English report on its real condition.
- Targeted repair where possible — weak modules, cooling fans and connections can often be fixed for far less than a full pack.
- Replacement quoted in writing — if the pack genuinely is done, you get a written quote with options before anything happens.
The health report is also worth having before you buy a used hybrid — pair it with our pre-purchase inspection ($395) and you’ll know exactly what the battery’s worth.

Worse fuel economy, the petrol engine running more than it used to, the charge gauge swinging rapidly between full and empty, reduced power, or a battery/hybrid system warning light. Any of these is worth a health check before it strands you.
No — often the fault is one or two weak modules, a clogged cooling fan or a connection issue. We test first and only recommend a full replacement when the pack genuinely needs it, with the quote in writing either way.
