Looking for an RACV-accredited workshop in Langwarrin?

Worth knowing: RACV itself doesn’t inspect cars. It accredits workshops against its own standards and publishes the ones that qualify as RACV-Accredited Auto Care Centres, and the workshop you choose carries out the actual job. We hold that accreditation, and every Langwarrin inspection is done by our own technicians.

Practically, that means our price is published rather than something you have to phone and ask about — $460 incl. GST mobile, $395 at Cranbourne West — and booked online. It also means we travel to Langwarrin, so a car you don’t yet own doesn’t have to move. RACV members should check with RACV directly on what benefits apply — that’s between you and them.

Buying a first car for a new driver

A lot of the Langwarrin inspections we do are parents buying for a son or daughter who has just got their licence. The brief is usually cheap and reliable, and the honest answer is that those two things pull against each other — but safety does not have to be the thing that gives.

On a first car we check the things that matter when the driver has no experience to fall back on: brakes and tyres properly rather than adequately, seat belt condition, and anything that could leave them stranded somewhere they should not be at night. Langwarrin is 18 minutes from us via Cranbourne-Frankston Road. $460 incl. GST to come to the car, $395 if it comes to us.

What should we prioritise on a cheap first car?

Brakes, tyres, and anything that causes a breakdown. Cosmetics can wait. We will tell you plainly which faults are safety, which are reliability, and which are just age.

Can you check whether the airbags are intact?

We check for obvious signs of past deployment or replacement. Faults the safety systems report need the optional scan-tool scan, $100 extra — a separate charge, not part of the RACV inspection or its mechanical guarantee. We cannot certify an airbag will function — nobody can without deploying it.
