Worth clarifying: RACV doesn’t inspect the car itself. It accredits workshops against its standards and publishes the ones that qualify as RACV-Accredited Auto Care Centres, and the inspection is always carried out by whichever workshop you choose. We hold that accreditation, and it’s our own team on every Lyndhurst booking.

Practically, that means a price you can see on the page — $460 incl. GST mobile, $395 at Cranbourne West — booked online rather than quoted over the phone. It also means we come to Lyndhurst, so a car you don’t own yet doesn’t need to leave Marriott Waters. RACV members should check with RACV directly on any benefits; that’s theirs to confirm.

The report, and how to actually use it

An inspection is only worth what you do with it. The report we hand over is written to be used in a conversation with a seller, not filed away: what is wrong, how serious it is, what it will take to put right, and what can safely wait. That last distinction is the one that saves people money.

Faults sort into three groups — walk away, negotiate, or accept and budget for. Most cars land in the middle, and a specific written finding is far stronger at the kerb than a general sense that something is off. Lyndhurst is roughly 7 minutes from the workshop via the Western Port Highway and Thompsons Road, out past Marriott Waters, and it is $460 incl. GST for us to come to the car.

Do I get the report in writing?

Yes — a written report of what we tested, what we found and what we recommend. That is what you are paying for, and it is yours to show the seller.

Will you tell me what the repairs should cost?

We quote our own repair work in writing if you want us to do it. For a car you have not bought yet, we describe the work needed so you can weigh it up — there is no obligation to have it done here.
