VW Care Plans vs Paying Per Service

Care plans sell certainty. Check what the certainty covers before you renew it.

The Check

Three questions before renewing

One: plan price divided by covered services — how does the per-service figure compare with an independent doing the same interval items? (Here: from $500 incl. GST, fixed in writing each time.) Two: is the DSG service inside the plan at the interval your gearbox needs, or is the most important item on the car conveniently outside it? Three: what happens to wear items, brakes and repairs — covered, or extra at network rates?

Plans win most often on brand-new cars inside finance deals. At renewal time on a three-to-five-year-old VW, the honest arithmetic usually points the other way — and switching costs nothing: Under Australian Consumer Law and ACCC guidance, a manufacturer’s warranty stays valid when the car is serviced by a qualified workshop to the manufacturer’s schedule with appropriate-quality parts.

StarTech Prestige is an independent workshop, not affiliated with or authorised by Volkswagen AG or its dealer network. Marque names describe the vehicles we service.

FAQ

A complete service record keeps resale value; the logo on the invoice matters far less than the absence of gaps. Independent records, properly kept, read just as well.

Terms vary – check yours for transfer or refund clauses. From the next unpaid service onward, the choice is simply yours.

We read the car’s electronic history, pick up the schedule exactly where the plan left it, and fix the price in writing – continuity is the whole point.
