Your Mercedes Is Out of Warranty. Now What?

The warranty was the reason to stay at the dealer. Once it ends, you get to choose on merit — here is what actually changes, what doesn’t, and what servicing should cost from here.

What Changes

The obligation ends. The car doesn’t change.

Nothing mechanical happens on the day your warranty expires. Your Mercedes still runs the same ASSYST schedule, still wants the same approved oil, and still needs its service indicator reset and the work recorded — and none of that is dealer-exclusive: we have access to genuine Mercedes-Benz parts and the dealer-level scan tooling the work needs. What changes is simpler: you no longer have any reason to pay dealer overhead for that work.

Worth knowing even before the warranty ends: under Australian Consumer Law and ACCC guidance, a manufacturer’s warranty stays valid when your car is serviced by a qualified independent workshop to the manufacturer’s schedule with appropriate-quality parts. The dealer was always one option, not a requirement. Out of warranty, even that argument is gone.

What It Costs

Same schedule, honest pricing

We service Mercedes-Benz to the factory ASSYST schedule with access to genuine Mercedes-Benz parts, the correct approved oils, and dealer-level Mercedes diagnostic scan tooling — full-system scans, ASSYST resets and coding done properly: Service A from $500 incl. GST, and Service B quoted once we read your service indicator and see which items have actually fallen due — the price is fixed in writing before we start. Repairs are always quoted separately for you to approve or decline.

The years after warranty are when a Mercedes rewards on-schedule servicing most — and when skipping it costs most. An independent specialist keeps the schedule without the dealer bill, which is usually what decides whether an older Mercedes is a pleasure or a money pit.

StarTech Prestige is an independent workshop. We are not affiliated with, or authorised by, Mercedes-Benz AG, Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific or any Mercedes-Benz dealership. “Mercedes-Benz” is used to describe the vehicles we service.

FAQ

Out of Warranty — FAQ

No. Out of warranty, the dealer is simply one workshop among many. Your ASSYST service indicator, your service history and your car’s needs all carry over — and your consumer guarantees under Australian law apply to whoever does the work.

Yes — we stamp the logbook, record the work and reset the service indicator properly, so the history shows an unbroken record of on-schedule servicing.

ASSYST Service A from $500 incl. GST. Service B is quoted once we read your service indicator and see what is actually due — fixed in writing before we start.

Usually less than people fear — if it is serviced on schedule by someone who knows the marque. Deferred servicing is what makes older European cars expensive.
