Inspections

Can You Get a Used Car Inspected at a Dealership?

Yes — and a seller’s reaction to the request tells you almost as much as the inspection.

How It Works

Dealer lots welcome inspectors more than you’d think

Most dealers will accommodate an independent pre-purchase inspection — reputable ones expect the request weekly. The logistics are simple: we arrange access with the salesperson, our mobile inspection ($460 incl. GST) comes to the lot, or the dealer releases the car to our workshop for the $395 version. You get the full written report either way — and it is yours, never shown to the seller.

The refusal tell: a dealer who will not allow an independent inspection of a used car is answering a question you had not asked yet. Walk.

FAQ

Usually, yes – we coordinate directly with the salesperson so you do not have to negotiate anything. Refusals are rare and informative.

No – statutory warranties are short and narrow. The report tells you what you are buying; the warranty only argues about it afterwards.

Read it, then get one from someone the seller is not paying. Independence is the entire point.
