What we watch for on the X-Trail
- CVT fluid and cooling — the single most important X-Trail maintenance item. Fresh fluid at sensible intervals is far cheaper than a transmission.
- Coolant and thermostat — overheating is the fastest way to end a QR25. We pressure-test rather than top up and hope.
- Timing chain tensioner noise — a rattle at start-up is a conversation worth having early.
