We service the Mazda 3 across the 2.0L and 2.5L SkyActiv-G petrol engines, and the SkyActiv-D diesel. Mazda schedules the 3 at 12 months or 10,000km, whichever comes first — a shorter kilometre interval than many rivals, so plenty of owners hit it on time rather than distance.
Every service uses correct-specification oil and filters, covers every item the manufacturer lists for that interval, and finishes with a road test and a stamped logbook.
What we watch for on the Mazda 3
- Intake carbon build-up. SkyActiv-G is direct-injected, so there is no fuel washing over the back of the intake valves. Carbon accumulates. We check for it and clean it before it turns into rough idling and misfires.
- Front suspension bushes and links. Creaks and knocks over speed humps are common as the car ages. Cheap to fix early, and they will fail a roadworthy if left.
- DPF on the SkyActiv-D. Diesel 3s doing short suburban runs often never complete a burn cycle. We check DPF status at every service.

We price the car in front of us
Two things we do differently, and we would rather tell you now than when you ring.
- We don’t give prices over the phone. Not for repairs. We can tell you what a scheduled service costs because that is a known job, but we will not guess at a repair from a description. The car needs to be here. A guess over the phone is either too high and you walk away, or too low and we have to ring you back with bad news — neither is fair on you.
- We don’t work off another workshop’s diagnosis. If someone else has told you what is wrong, we will listen, and then we will do our own diagnostic work before we quote or replace anything. We are the ones warranting the repair, so it has to be our finding. That means diagnostics is charged for our time — from $374, two-hour minimum — and it is not a free quote.
Once we have found the fault, you get a fixed written price and nothing happens until you approve it.
