BYD’s factory warranty does not require dealer servicing. Under Australian Consumer Law, servicing by a qualified workshop, done to BYD’s schedule with appropriate-quality parts, preserves the warranty cover. What matters is the record: the right items done at the right intervals, documented. We stamp the logbook and keep that proof for you.
What we actually do on a BYD
On the EVs (Atto 3, Dolphin, Seal, Sealion 7): a flat $400 incl. GST service covering the EV system checks with a written report of what we found, brake inspection for regen-rust, tyre measurement and rotation, coolant circuits, cabin filter and a 12-volt load test. On the plug-in hybrids (Sealion 6, Shark 6): logbook servicing from $299 incl. GST — the petrol engine needs calendar-based oil services even when your commute is electric.
The habits that protect a BYD
Charge LFP models to 100% regularly to keep cell balancing accurate (BYD’s own guidance), keep the 12-volt tested if the car sits, give the friction brakes an occasional firm stop, and treat software updates as part of maintenance — they genuinely change charging and driving behaviour.
