How the A-Class service schedule works

Like all modern Mercedes, the A-Class uses the ASSYST Plus system, which alternates between an “A” service (the minor) and a “B” service (the major), typically about every 12 months or 15,000–25,000 km depending on driving. The car tells you when it’s due, but age matters too — oil degrades over time even on low-km cars.

An A service covers oil and filter, a safety inspection and resets. A B service adds items like cabin and air filters, brake-fluid changes on schedule, and a more thorough inspection.

What an A-Class service costs

Dealer A-Class servicing can be pricey; as an independent Mercedes specialist we do the same work to the same schedule for less, using the correct-specification oil and genuine-quality parts and stamping your logbook so your warranty stays intact.

Costs vary by whether it’s an A or B service and your exact model (the A45 AMG, for example, needs different oil and more attention than a base A180). We always give a fixed written quote before we start.

Watch points on the A-Class

The A-Class shares much with the VAG-rivalling Mercedes small-car family. Keep an eye on the dual-clutch (DCT) transmission fluid service, which is often overlooked, and on carbon build-up on the direct-injection petrol engines over higher kilometres.

The turbocharged AMG models reward correct oil and warm-up/cool-down discipline. We know these cars and service them accordingly.

Keeping your A-Class costs down

The cheapest way to own an A-Class is to service it on time, every time, with the right oil — deferring a service to save money almost always costs more later. Booking with a specialist who knows the model means nothing gets missed.
