What it usually means
That rhythmic clicking from deep in the dash is the signature of a blend-door actuator — a small motor trying to move a jammed air door, or one with stripped plastic gears clicking as it slips. It often starts after using the climate control and can run for minutes.
A failing relay or the hazard/indicator circuit can click too, but the actuator owns this complaint.
