Car Shakes in Drive but Smooth in Park/Neutral: Causes

What it usually means
If the idle is smooth in Park or Neutral but shakes once you select Drive (foot on the brake at lights), the engine is under load — classic causes are worn engine/gearbox mounts (the load rocks the engine onto a tired mount), a weak idle under load from carbon or a vacuum leak, or torque-converter drag.
